Flying in
From Hobart to Port Kembla.
Fly from Hobart or Launceston into Sydney Airport. There are fewer flights a day than on mainland routes, so book once your dates are confirmed. From Sydney Airport it’s about 75 minutes by car to Port Kembla. Without a car, take the airport line to Wolli Creek and change to a South Coast Line train, or arrange a transfer.
Wait until your dates are confirmed and your deposit is paid before you book flights.
Time zone
Plan around the clock.
Tasmania and New South Wales share a time zone and both use daylight saving, so there’s no time difference to plan around.
Planning the trip
A trip that works.
Day one: fly into Sydney and drive south.
Day two: your session.
Day three: rest, or fly home.
With fewer daily flights, leave a buffer in case of delays.
Heading home
Flying with a fresh tattoo.
Flying home after a session is usually fine. Wear loose clothing, keep the tattoo clean and covered as instructed, and avoid long periods pressing on it. Aftercare comes by email, with a check-in after a week and a healed-photo request at around eight weeks.
Clients from Tasmania
Work for clients from Tasmania.
[Dylan: a piece or two done for clients from Hobart or Tasmania.]
Sometimes, for large pieces, working on different areas so the skin isn’t overworked. Mention your travel dates in your application and Dylan will tell you what’s realistic.
