Clients fly in from Brisbane and across Queensland for full-day realism with Dylan in Port Kembla. Here’s how to plan the trip, from the flight to the drive south.

Flying in
From Brisbane to Port Kembla.
Fly from Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast into Sydney Airport. Flights run all day, so it’s easy to arrive the afternoon before. From Sydney Airport it’s about 75 minutes by car to Port Kembla. Without a car, take the airport line to Wolli Creek and change to a South Coast Line train, or arrange a transfer.
Wait until your dates are confirmed and your deposit is paid before you book flights.
Time zone
Plan around the clock.
Queensland doesn’t use daylight saving. From October to early April, while New South Wales is on daylight saving, Port Kembla is an hour ahead of Brisbane, so a morning session starts an hour earlier on your body clock. The rest of the year the time is the same.
Planning the trip
A trip that works.
Day one: fly into Sydney in the afternoon and drive south.
Day two: your session.
Day three: rest, or fly home.
For large pieces, ask about booking two days close together on one trip.
Heading home
Flying with a fresh tattoo.
Flying home after a session is usually fine. Wear loose clothing, keep the tattoo clean and covered as instructed, and avoid long periods pressing on it. Aftercare comes by email, with a check-in after a week and a healed-photo request at around eight weeks.
Clients from Queensland
Work for clients from Queensland.
Dylan’s most watched reel, a full-colour dragon leg sleeve with 4.5 million views, was started for a client who travelled down from Queensland. [Dylan: other work for Queensland clients.]

Colour dragon leg sleeve
A rare full-colour piece: a dragon breathing fire down the leg, for a client who travelled down from Queensland to start it.
Sometimes, for large pieces, working on different areas so the skin isn’t overworked. Mention your travel dates in your application and Dylan will tell you what’s realistic.
For large-scale realism, many clients think so. A sleeve or back piece is designed once and tattooed over a few trips, so the flights are a small part of the whole project.
